About a week ago, the missionary/teachers and a few of our friends from church went to Tsurahashi. Many of us had never been and we wanted to check it out, buy some Korean stuff, and eat Korean food like kimuchi.
This is a Tako Yaki stand in Tsurahashi. Takoyaki たこ焼き (Tako, pronounced like a mexican taco, means octopus in Japanese) is a popular food in Japan, especially at festivals. It has a little piece of tako in the middle of a spoonful of batter that is cooked in the half circle shapes of a special grill. As the batter cooks, it is turned until a perfect ball is formed. Before you crinkle your nose and say "Ewwwww!!!!!" you should try it. Then you can decide if its gross or not. Honestly, you can't really taste the octopus, especially if you eat it all together, but if you eat the piece of tako alone you'll definitely taste it. The batter has other tasty ingredients and is quite good; a very Japanese flavor!
You can get Takoyaki almost anywhere in Japan, but we stopped at this place during our afternoon in Tsurahashi. They made Takoyaki Tacos (well,... that's what I call them). Let me explain. It is takoyaki sandwiched by a special seafood flavor rice cracker and topped with green onions and other toppings. The rice cracker is a large thin oval shape, cut in half, one for each side. It resembles a mexican hard taco. Hence the name,...Takoyaki Taco. Tako Taco!

Oh yeah, one more thing. Check out the display of one food shop.
It's like the Korean kimuchi Terminator!
He's got a handful of kimuchi (fake kimuchi,...i hope) and a plate of it on display next to his foot. Honestly, one of the funniest things I've seen in a while. The guys were posing for pictures with it.
